Published on the occasion of the 50 years of artistic activity of the Ferruccio Busoni Chamber Orchestra
There was a Trieste, which had its roots of civilization in the soft and discreet - but strictly professional - dimension of a glorious nineteenth-century tradition: the "familiar" one of musical schools. Where the pleasure of "making music" transcended the ambitions of personal success, taking place in a sort of feverish laboratory of knowledge. Which explains why this dimension belongs today to the "world of yesterday".
The secret of the Busoni Orchestra seems to me to be precisely that of having cultivated and refined this familiar aura in quality more than quantity, in reasons and affections rather than in the effects of the music. Addressing each program to the reserved alacrity of an illuminated atelier, from the Baroque to the contemporary repertoire. This has led to projects (also documented by recordings of high editorial value) such as the music of Andrea Luchesi and Alessandro Rolla.
Where cultural policy does not allow continuity and stability to formations like this, it helps the sensitive and passionate aristocracy of Massimo Belli, it helps the emotional regeneration of this "finding" in the ancient delight of discovery as if it were always the first time.
Oggi come mezzo secolo fa.
